Boys and Girls Clubs Groundbreaking

Summit Contracting Group is building an expansion and renovation for Baxter E. Luther Boys & Girls Club, formally known as the Woodland Acres Boys & Girls Club. The expansion will accommodate more programs and allow access for more children and teens. The construction will add to the existing structures to include new areas for sports, arts, and learning spaces.
“This expansion will help change the lives of an additional 100-150 children and teens,” says Paul Martinez, CEO/President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Florida. “We are grateful for everyone who has a role in this project.”
“We received a great response from our construction partners resulting in support covering nearly half the cost of the project,” says Nicole Padgett, Summit’s CAO. “The programs offered through the Boys and Girls Clubs are important for the kids who are Jacksonville’s future. We can’t imagine a better way to let them know the community cares about them, than to help improve the facilities where they learn and grow, and become part of the community as well. We are honored to work with them, and look forward to the completed expansion!”
Every child deserves to walk into the classroom with all the supplies they need to learn. Summit is collecting school supply donations through mid-August for Jacksonville non-profits for our 3rd consecutive year.
“Our philanthropic and volunteer activities are a high priority for Summit as a company and to our employees. It’s especially important to our team to give where our support is needed most, and where those who need it will receive the most direct benefit. We choose to donate school supplies to Hubbard House because it is an organization that helps Jacksonville’s children at their most vulnerable time with vital services. School supplies may be a small part, but are essential for learning and transitioning back into school and home-life. We are honored to contribute.” – Nicole Padgett, CAO, Summit Contracting Group
Summit has completed construction for Volaris Live Oak in Sarasota, FL. This Garden Style Community has 300 units in 6 four-story buildings. Amenities include a clubhouse, 2 six-bay garage buildings, mail kiosk, and pool area with a pavilion.
“Approximately 60 percent of the cost increases we’ve seen recently are directly related to tariffs,” says Aaron Trascritti, Director of Client Relations for Summit Contracting Group.
Summit has not experienced a significant impact from the labor shortage as the Southeast has stayed relatively consistent and our core group of Subcontractors have been successful at maintaining their labor force, however, we do see the effect it has had on other markets. Areas such as Nashville and Denver we’ve observed a larger impact where the availability of labor has declined.
