Grand-Opening: The Waves at Jacksonville Beach

On April 2nd, 2021, Jacksonville Beach’s newest development, “The Waves” opened its doors to a waitlist of 15,000 potential residents.

With demand for affordable housing surging in this area, the low-income housing project is a much-needed refuge for many residents in the community. The $30 million investment has increased capacity by 90% and replaced the outdated and inefficient buildings of over 60 years.

Summit Contracting Group provided the general contracting services overseeing the construction of 16 two-story wood frame buildings which are now able to house 127 families available in plenty two- and three-bedroom layouts, and amenities including mail kiosks, a trash enclosure, a maintenance building, a playground, and a computer lab. The project spans a total of 154,835 gross square feet.

After placing the families that have been long-standing residents of “The Waves”, there are a whopping 15,000 more people on the waiting list.

In partnership with the Jacksonville Housing Authority and Vestcor, Summit is honored to have had the opportunity to help bridge the gap between quality living conditions and affordable rates.
